Freedom

Man’s fear of freedom
         Makes him dangerous
         Makes him a murderer
Makes him not a man
Men will talk of freedom
         But not walk it
         Not live it
And will condemn the man who does
For it makes him aware
Of what he’s given up
It makes him unable to live in denial
There is no true freedom with the un-evolved
Those that fear it
Those that know only survival
                           Only security
Those that know no discipline
                           No self-control
They destroy and impose beliefs
         Destroy and imprison
It is the free that inspire or repulse us
As they say, what we hate, we have denied in ourselves
These choices we make
These lives we fake
The more we live
The more we die
And those who aren’t busy being born
                           Are busy dying
We’re always busy
Seldom truly living
Either busy being born or busy dying
We learn to let go of the living
We forget to stop and see
What it means to be
Alive and breathing
Waterfalls, butterflies
Sunsets and sunny skies
Star lit nights
Love and new heights
Are you free?

Every Kiss, Every Embrace

Step back and breathe in
Let go of the trying to win
Let yourself be in the moment, free
To experience what it means
To truly feel your own skin
And each breath you pull in
In this short life
We’ve found ourselves in
No one truly knows why
We’re here or what’s actually past the eye
All we know is what we perceive
Or what we’ve been taught to believe
I’m not sure what is outside of me
But I know I need to be free
Inside this shell or at least in the heart of me
I want to taste every kiss, every embrace
Even if at the end I’ll face
That it was a pointless dream, a waste
The experience is what it makes
